The material of the bellows hose should generally meet the following conditions:

  1. Good plasticity, convenient for processing and forming of metal bellows, and subsequent treatment (cold work hardening, heat treatment, etc.) can obtain sufficient hardness and strength.
  2. High elastic limit, high tensile strength and fatigue strength, to ensure normal operation of the bellows.
  3. Good welding performance, which can meet the welding process requirements of bellows in the production process.
  4. Good corrosion resistance, which can meet the requirements of bellows in different environments.

Most manufacturers use stainless steel materials such as 0Cr18Ni9 (304), 00Cr19Ni10 (304L), 0cr17nimo2 (316), 00cr17ni4mo2 (316L). In order to improve the corrosion resistance of the bellows, 316 or 316L materials are used in some of the bellows of the heating pipe network. These two materials should be materials with better performance and price in the heating pipe network.

However, for special power plants, steel plants, coal chemical industries and complex chemical conditions, materials with strong corrosion resistance, such as iron-nickel alloys, high-nickel alloys, etc., should be considered. Because n08800 (800 alloy), n06625 (625 alloy), n08825 (825 alloy), s31254 (254SMO), N08904 (904L), pure titanium gr1 and other materials are commonly used in the manufacture of bellows. The price of this material is relatively high. When making bellows, according to the corrosive environment of the working conditions on site, only a layer of corrosion-resistant alloy can be added to the surface in contact with the corrosive medium during the design process to save costs, but all prerequisites must be based on safety and reliability.

Once the bellows fails, it will increase the safety hazards of the pipeline. Therefore, for safety reasons, Wuxi Xinlai Vacuum recommends that you immediately rectify the bellows after discovering the above-mentioned failure performance. Do not continue to use the bellows in order to save costs, causing greater losses in the future.

The cost increase of the product itself is small, causing greater intangible loss to subsequent production. So don’t underestimate this small compensation component.
